FARGO – Start your scales, practice your dance moves and get ready to belt a ballad. Fargo Star is back.

We’ll accept audition videos for The Forum’s annual singing competition to name the next Fargo Star live on stage March 22 at The Venue

Here’s how it works:

- Submitting your video

Through Jan. 24, submit a video of you singing a song.

You can sing a cappella or with a backing track, solo or with instrumental accompaniment. Entrants can be any age and sing any genre of music. We just don’t accept songs with offensive or lewd material.

Once you’ve uploaded your video (YouTube, Vimeo, etc), fill out the form below and send us a link to your audition.

Don’t have confidence in your video-making skills? Stop in for one of our four in-studio recording sessions. Email features editor Heidi Shaffer at hshaffer@forumcomm.com to set up an appointment for Jan. 6, 8, 14 or 16.

- Voting

Once we have your video, we’ll randomly break contestants into three groups for voting on our AreaVoices site.

Round 1 starts on Jan. 27. Round 2 is set for Feb. 03. And Round 3 starts Feb 10.

The top two vote-getters in each of these groups will automatically advance to the final live performance. We’ll announce the previous week’s winners each Monday in The Forum and on the Fargo Star blog.

The remaining contestants’ videos will get a second chance at the finals in Round 4 (Feb. 17), in which the top four advance.

- Performing live

Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome returns March 22 as the backing band as the 10 finalists perform a song of their choice in front of a live audience at The Venue.

Each audience member gets to place one vote for their favorite.

Stay tuned for information on buying tickets for the finals and prize packages.

But in the meantime, practice your lyrics and perfect your look. You’re on your way to being the next Fargo Star.
