FARGO – A couple of veteran contestants will take the Fargo Star stage for another shot at winning The Forum’s annual singing showcase.
Shelby Heimbuch of Fargo and Jill Borgerding of Moorhead made it through Round 3 of voting to sing live March 23 with Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome at The Venue in Fargo in hopes of being named Fargo Star.
Both were finalists in 2012, and this is a third shot at the top spot for Borgerding, who also made it to the 2008 finals.
“I had such a good time,” said Borgerding, a sales associate at Royal Jewelers in downtown Fargo, who received 6,432 votes in Round 3.
Heimbuch, a 21-year-old North Dakota State University student, said last year’s competition prepared her for singing with a live band.
“I love singing; it’s my passion,” said Heimbuch, who tallied a remarkable 8,888 votes in Round 3, better than any contestant so far. “I really love to perform.”
Heimbuch and Borgerding join the other four finalists, Trina Michels, Taylor Hought, Stephanie Palanuk and Mehgan Ashmore.
The final round of Fargo Star voting starts Monday and goes through noon Friday. It’s a last chance for all of the contestants who haven’t yet made it to the finals to secure the remaining four spots.
